Bondage As An Art form

Most of us think we're being really adventurous if we use a silk scarf to tie our partner's hands together. However, bondage is much more than that, at its best, it is a work of art. Why use handcuffs, when you can make tying someone's hands together so much more fun?

Although erotic bondage has been practised all over the world for hundreds of years, probably the best know style is Shibari, which developed in Japan. Originally in Japan, this was called Kinbaku.
In Shibari, the rope is used to create geometric shapes that compliment the human body's curves and skin texture. Each knot and length of rope is used to emphasise the sensuality and vulnerability of the person being bound.
There is also a healing aspect in traditional Shibari, as knots are placed over energy centres and work in the same way as Shiatsu, a form of massage similar to acupuncture. This stimulates the body's natural healing process and helps to increase the flow of energy.
Because of the intricate nature of the patterns and knots used in Shibari, it requires the full cooperation of the submissive. It is extremely difficult to bind some against their will using this style. Because of this, the submissive often finds that the process of being bound acts as a kind of meditation, where they can reach a kind of trance-like state.
Although Shibari is used in BDSM play the nawashi (the person doing the binding) places the emphasis on being artistic, so that the finished product is appealing to the eye. It is also possible to use this style simply to enhance both partner's experiences while they make love, rather than as a form of punishment.

Some examples of Shibari are the Ushiro Takatekote, which is the basic sequence of Shibari tying and Matanawa. In Ushiro Takatekote, the arms are bound behind the back, when it is used on a woman, the sequence also includes binding her breasts.

Matanawa is a technique which involves the tying the rope around a woman's waist & passing it between her labia to apply painful or pleasurable pressure to her genitals. The rope may be tied with the woman naked, or over clothes. There are also variations of Matanawa that can be used on men.

Www.TOKYO-HOT.COM is a Japanese porn site that has several films involving Shibari if you want to check it out.
The use of stress positions has become notorious thanks to the Americans using them to interrogate suspected terrorists in Guantanamo Bay. A stress position is used to place the submissive in such as way that most of their weight is supported by only a few muscles. This creates an immense amount of pressure, leading to discomfort, pain, then muscle failure.

Stress positions are used to great effect in An Absence Of Light, which costs £2.51p & is available from www.deviancymadesimple.webs.com
